Veteran journalist and commentator Andrew Mujuni Mwenda has warned Ugandans against allowing the opposition, steered by Dr Kizza Besigye of the FDC and Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) of NUP, saying these will be worse than President Yoweri Museveni, Idi Amin and Milton Obote.
According to Mwenda, Museveni and his NRM have engaged in human rights violations that are worse than what they condemned in the regimes preceding theirs.
His predictuon is that Besigye’s FDC and Bobi Wine’s NUP do not offer better alternatives to the current government and should therefore not be trusted with power.
“Torture is a very bad thing. I’m intrigued that Amin came, criticized Obote for it and did the same. Museveni came criticized Amin and did the same. If the opposition comes, they will do worse, they are devils,” Mwenda said during a recent media appearance.
“The opposition is dangerous; they will do worse if they take over power. NUP, FDC are such a bad alternative to the government. As Ugandans, we need to forsake and avoid NUP and FDC.”
It should be remembered that Mwenda once jokingly registered as a NUP member. (Read story here).
He has since openly expressed support for Museveni’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. (Read story here).
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Kainerugaba has said he is capable of beating Besigye and Bobi Wine in a presidential election. (Read story here).
