MP Francis Zaake is said to be admitted in a Jinja City hospital after reportedly being beaten and injured in Kayunga election violence
Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has once again been beaten in another election campaign, this time in Kayunga District.
In recent years, Zaake, an ally of NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, has suffered at the hands of police and other security agencies.
Zaake was involved in scuffles with security operatives in the 2018 Arua byelection chaos and in the 2020 lockdown while distributing relief food to his constituents.
Now according to his master Bobi Wine, Zaake has reportedly been “severely injured” in Kayunga where he had gone to campaign for Harriet Nakwedde, the NUP candidate in the LCV byelection.
Bobi Wine also blamed the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) soldiers for beating Zaake.
He added that Zaake was was admitted in Jinja.
“Violence meted out on our leaders in Kayunga. Several severely injured. Hon. Francis Zaake has been badly beaten by SFC soldiers and he’s now currently admitted at a hospital in Jinja,” claimed the NUP leader.
Meanwhile, security remains deployed around Bobi Wine’s home in Magere, Wakiso District.
