After being elected the Uganda Law Society President, Isaac Ssemakadde saluted his supporters, emphasized the strength in unity and blasted those who were fighting him.
Ssemakadde reiterated his commitment to upholding the values he and his supporters are passionate about. He promised to be “inclusive and progressive.”
“I am deeply humbled and honored by the trust you have placed in me by electing me as your president. This victory belongs to all of us—each member who believes in the strength of our collective voice, the power of justice, and the importance of unity in our legal fraternity,” he noted.
“As I step into this role, I am committed to serving you with integrity, transparency, and unwavering dedication. Together, we will continue to advance the values that define us: upholding the rule of law, protecting human rights, and ensuring that our society remains inclusive and progressive.”
Ssemakadde further talked of working for “a brighter future” for lawyers.
“This is not just a victory for me; it is a victory for every lawyer in Uganda who seeks a brighter future for our profession and our country. I look forward to working alongside each of you, listening to your concerns, and turning our shared vision into tangible progress,” continued Ssemakadde.
“Thank you once again for your trust and confidence. Together, we will achieve great things! In service and solidarity.”
He then hinted on those that ridiculed him and fought him only to see him win. “REBELS: ‘First they laugh at you, then they ignore you, then they fight you, then you win.’ – Mahatma Gandhi,” he wrote.
