As Uganda gears towards to the 2026 elections, there are up to 10000 jobs up for grabs in Uganda Police Force (UPF).
UPF will recruit 10,000 Probationer Police Constables (PPCs). The call for applications issued by Jesse Kamunanwire on behalf of IGP Abbas Byakagaba makes it clear that the force will only recruit candidates with a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
“Those who possess higher academic qualifications should not apply,” the job advert read.
On minimum requirements for recruitment, one must be a Ugandan citizen with a valid National ID or confirmation of information on the register letter from NIRA.
The candidate must also have no criminal record, should be physically and medically fit, should be ready to undertake the requisite police basic training; and should be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions, according the call for applications.
Candidates must also should be ready to work in any part of the country, should possess good communication skills, and must not be a serving or former officer in other Forces.
On the level of education, candidates must possess a UCE certificate or its equivalent obtained in a sitting not earlier than 2020, with at least four (4) credits, including either English or Mathematics, and must have at least a pass in the other subject for the traditional grading system)
For those graded under the Competency-Based System, one must have at least four (4) Cs, including either English or Mathematics, and must have at least a ‘D’ grade in the other subject.
Possession of a valid driving permit will be an added advantage, the call further read. Police also encouraged females to apply.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Police wants candidates to deliver hand-written applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police to the Police District/Divisional Headquarters.
Other documents include photocopies of academic documents, photocopy of the National ldentity Card, three (3) recent passport size photographs, identity card or introductory letter from the previous school and recommendation letters from LCI, LCIll and RDC (from the respective districts of residence), all of which must be submitted in a file folder
The deadline for applications is Friday, March 21, 2025.
Candidates have been warned against forgery and bribery. “Impersonation or presentation of forged documents shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law. Applicants who conceal or provide false information shall be disqualified,” Kamunanwire noted.
“All stages of the recruitment process are completely free of charge. Applicants should refrain from paying any money to anyone for any services during the recruitment process.”
He also made it clear that “appointment in the Uganda Police Force shall be after completion of the Police Basic Training.”
The recruitment is starting months to the 2026 general elections.
